Delhi is a census-designated place (CDP) in Merced County, California, USA. According to the 2000 census, the CDP population was 8,022. Pronounced "Del-high" as in Delta-Highline Canal, NOT "del-ee" like Delhi, India. Ironically, many residents of Delhi, California immigrated from India.
Delhi is the largest unincorporated town of Merced County. It has its own unified school district comprised of three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one continuation high school. Some students choose to attend Livingston High School in the Merced Union High School District. Delhi is in the Turlock Irrigation District, which provides farm water and electrical service. The Delhi County Water District provides drinking water and sewer service.
